Joining MUMC: How To Sign Up
Firstly, come to the Clubrooms: they are located on the University campus near the Cricket Oval and Cricket Pavilion. There is a flyer circulating around the Sports Centre at University, which tells you exactly where we are. The Clubrooms are open each Tuesday night from 7pm to 8pm.
Find the Clubrooms using Google Maps.
Eligibility
When you get there, you'll need to fill out one of two forms, depending on your enrolment status at the University. Melbourne University students should fill out the Students form: everyone else should also fill out the Eligible Non-Students one. In order to be eligible for club membership, you have to be one (or more) of the following:
- a student at Melbourne University (includes deferred students)
- a graduate from anywhere (including overseas)
- a staff member of Melbourne University
- an employee of a University department
- bloodkin (married/sibling/parent/partner/children) to/of a current member of the Club
You may also join at the discretion of the Club if you somehow fit not into any of the above categories.
Membership & Club Costs
For students, the membership cost is a mighty A$20. For graduates and non-Melbourne University students, the cost is A$50.
When you go on Club Trips you will inevitably have other expenditures. These expenditures may include Gear Hire, Food and Petrol.
1. Gear Hire
If you do not already possess the necessary (and usually expensive) equipment required for a Club Trip, we can supply a modest collection of outdoor-related items. For a scandalously cheap price you can borrow any of these quality items you require for a Club Trip, which generally lasts for a weekend. Prices may vary a little depending on the bigness of the item being borrowed.
2. Food
Another expenditure for going on Club Trips is buying what you eat. You can expect to spend around $25—$30 for a weekend's supply of grub. This cost estimate does vary with quality. You might be able to eat flora and fauna on your trip, but this is strictly prohibited by law, frowned upon by us, and is very disconcerting for the flora/fauna involved.
3. Petrol & Car Maintenance
The cost of petrol is divided up equally amongst the number of people travelling in the car: therefore, the more people go, the cheaper petrol price is for each member of the trip. There is an extra surcharge for vehicle maintenance, not driving on sealed roads (e.g. 4WD tracks).
The Club Trips
Club Trips are generally run every weekend for each Activity. The Club Trips cater for each level of experience, from beginner to advanced.
...I still don't understand.
You might be better off coming into the Clubrooms and we can sort you out personally.

And, here is a useful satellite map.
Membership Forms
To get everything done faster, you can download and fill out these membership forms in advance. Bring them and the necessary payment to the Clubrooms and you'll suddenly find yourself a member with minimum hassle.
If you are an eligible non-student (i.e. not a Melbourne University student) then you need to fill out the Eligible Non-Student form too.
Membership Cards
When you complete your membership application, you'll receive your own MUMC Membership card, recognised in most Melbourne stores.
