Ascending Macedon

G'day everyone. Before the semester starts again and we students suffer again, myself and Jak would like to do a little day hike up Mount Macedon. We are traveling by V/Line train, and spend the whole day up on the range.

The track: 23.2km with 900m of ascending

Elevation: Notable is a big ascending section and a rock hopping section from Mt Towrong

Cost: $10 of myki money per person

Time:

8:30am: Meet at Southern Cross Station in front of Woolies Metro

8:56am: Catch the Bendigo Vline Train, reaching Macedon Station at 10am

10am: Start the hike

11:30am: Reach the Memorial Cross, have lunch (the tea room is closed on Wednesday unfortunately, so no ice cream)

12:30pm: Continue the rest of the hike to Camels Hump, Mt Towrong, walk across the town

Approximately 5-7pm: arrive back to the train station

Approximately 6-8pm: reach Southern Cross station

What to bring:

2-3L of water

Self-packed lunch

Snack (optional)

Trekking Pole (optional, but recommended)

Proper gear based on weather

Weather forecast is currently sunny

This season has chance of snow and wet

Slightly muddy sections

Difficulty: Intermediate - Continuous long walk, with a continuous ascent. Fair bit of fitness is essential!
