Ski leader training weekend!

The club has recently passed the ski leadership framework and is very keen to get some people trained up to be leaders ready for the snow season next year!

What: Leader training for backcountry skiers. The course will cover everything to do with running trips in the backcountry. Trip planning, route-finding, equipment familiarisation, skinning, basic navigation, emergency situations, avalanche awareness & safety. This course is not intended to improve your skiing. Participants should already be competent skiers (ie. skis on black runs , or very confident on blue runs).

Location: will be determined based on conditions, skill of the group, and where Luke tells you to go. Probably Hotham or Bogong area.

Costs: The cost for training will be ~$500. The club is potentially able to allocate training grant funding (up to $250) if participants become ski leaders in the club and run some club trips (win for everyone). Other costs will include food, car entry permit, chains, parking (if applicable), petrol. 

The training trip is limited to 5 people. Priority will be given to experienced skiers and active club members.
