Join me and Ella on a trip to Lake Tali Karng, the only permanant alpine lake in Victoria. This three day, two night trip will see us visiting the Lake, and hopefully seeing beautiful views and stunning vistas in the alpine region. Across the three days, we are planning to cover 38.1km, with 1378 metres of vert.
The plan for the weekend is as follows.
Friday 17th
9:00-14:00 meet at Club Rooms and drive to McFarlane Saddle.
We will then walk to Nyimba Campsite (8.5km, 151m vert), and spend the night.
Saturday 18th
We will leave our heavy items at the campsite, and hike down to the lake in the morning. Returning for lunch, we will then hike out to the Sentinels in the afternoon, potentially returning in the dark. This is a 21km day, with 1000m of vert, but we will only be carrying day packs for the entirety of it.
Sunday 19th
Hike out to McFarlane Saddle in the morning, and drive back in the afternoon. (8.5km, 172m vert). Aiming to return to Club Rooms by 5:00pm at the latest.
Nyimba campsite apperently has toilets and water, but this information is mixed and I will contact the ranger in the days before the trip to confirm. There are springs close to the camp that can be used, but we may need to hunt for water.
All participants must be comfortable hiking in mixed weather, and doing long days with large vert. Transport costs will be roughly 50AUD each. The particpant count can be increased with enough demand and another driver.
