Macedon Top Roping

We're gonna head to Mt Macedon for a top rope session to kick off the semester!!

We'll leave clubrooms at 8am on Friday morning and drive to Camels Hump Carpark.

We'll set up a couple of different top ropes at the back wall of Mt Macedon, which you can check out with this link to the the website ‘theCrag’. The grades range from beginner climbs all the way to some more challenging routes.

It'll be a big day with about an hour long drive and 15 minutes of easy walking along the trail to the crag. We will then climb for a few hours and aim to be back at the clubrooms by around 5pm.

You'll need to bring plenty of water, food (lunch and snacks), and sunscreen. You will also need to have climbing shoes, a harness, and a helmet. 

Gear can be hired out from the MUMC climbing store on the Tuesday day night before the trip. A $50 cash deposit is required for gear hire.

We will have a trip meeting on this coming Tuesday the 3rd to confirm numbers and gear. If you are unable to attend the meeting you must contact the trip leaders beforehand. If you have any questions you can ask at the meeting or leave a question on the trips page.

Due to leader/participant ratios this trip is limited in terms of numbers, and participants with cars may be prioritised so we can get everyone out there.

Mt Macedon is a summer climbing location because it can pretty wet and takes a while to dry in the cooler months. If we suspect it's going to be wet, we might relocate to another crag or head to Urban Climb Blackburn, but we will address that if it comes up. The forecast looks dry (with a top of 22 degrees), but in classic Melbourne fashion this can be unpredictable!
