Women and NB Easter hike!

Hello everyone! Following the hugely successful women’s hiking trip last year, I am going to organise another one. Basically the point of this is to run an ‘advanced’ level hike for our non-male folks in the club.

If you have a good 4wd you will get priority

Running over Easter and mid-sem break this hike is for people who are confident in hiking long distances with some exposure over steep elevations and independently camping in all weather conditions. 

Itinerary:

Friday 3rd April – 10.5km, 1200m elevation gain/500m elevation loss

- Meet at MUMC clubrooms at 6.30am

- Depart from MUMC clubrooms by 7.00am to reach upper Howqua camping area by 12.30pm

- Walk up helicopter spur

- Take the Australian Alps Walking Track over Mt Magdala and Hells window

- Camp at Hellfire creek campsite 

Saturday 4th April – 16.5 km, 1250m elevation gain/1400m elevation loss

- Continue on the Australian Alps Walking Track, passing Mt Howitt, the Crosscut Saw, Mt Buggery, and Mt Speculation

- Possible side trip to macalister Springs (2.5km)

- Return to Stanley Name Spur track

- Camp on Stanley Name Spur at the water point

Sunday 5th April – 10km, 200m elevation gain/700m elevation loss

- Return to Upper Howqua camping area, ETA 12.00pm

- Drive back to clubrooms, ETA 5.30pm.
