Long Plain and Blue Waterhole

This 3 day hike will take you around the alpine meadow of long plain and see the karst formation (caves!) around Blue Water Hole. All camp site did note water available.

The driving from clubroom to Cooinbil Hut is about 7 hrs. Do arrive at 7:30 as we will depart at 8:00am sharp to be able to walk to the camp site at reasonable time. The total drive is 1200km which for 2 cars we are looking at 65$ per person if unleaded stay below 2.

Previous overnight hiking experience needed. This is a trip to the alpine region, be prepared for freezing night (warm sleeping bag / thermal / down jacket) and blazing sun (sunscreen etc) 🙂 Rain gear mandatory. You will want proper hiking shoe for the off trail section and there are several water crossings.

Friday (11km, 260m)
Departing early and drive up to Cooinbil Hut. Likely to arrive late in the afternoon to hike shortly (11km) into Miller Hut to set up camp in the dark. If too late (5 / 6 pm) then we might just stop at Hainsworth Hut
Saturday(22km, 550m)
Steep climb (400m) off trail on to the hill and down to add some spice. The rest is relatively flat fire trail to Blues Water Hole Campground. Unfortunately we are not allowed to camp in the campsite which we will choose our own.
Sunday(11km, 440m)
Spend the morning to hike into Nichols Gorge (bag off) before embark back to Cooinbil and back to home very late in the night.
