The Aus backcountry fest is back! And I'm super keen to get out there and learn from their courses and workshops.

Fingers crossed we get some good snow before then 🤞 There is also cool stuff going on in the evenings, and I'll definitely be planning on going to those as well to socialise and maybe win some prizes at the raffle!

You can learn more about what courses/activities are offered here: https://www.backcountryfestival.com.au/about-us

We'll carpool up and likely camp at JB plain, although there are accom options on/near the mountain we could consider.

Workshop and tour registration will go live from 6pm on August 6th, 2026. If you buy a general admission ticket before this date, you'll get early access to the 'Experiences hub', with a direct link sent to your email on August 6th.

I'm hoping we can book some of the workshops together as a group if we get in early!

I've put in Monday as part of the trip TBC, in case conditions are good and we can go out touring for the day. We could also potentially move this to the Friday, I'll wait and see what the weather is doing closer to.

To come on this trip you would need at a minimun:

- Snow camping experience or experienced overnight hiker (if camping at JB plain)

- Backcountry skied previously on a club trip / high level of skiing ability (if you want to hire skis)

- A good level of fitness

- Ability to self manage packing, staying warm in very cold weather etc.

Please email me if you have any questions about the above. Although we will be going on courses/ activities that may not require these exact skills, to hire out the club skis we need to make sure they will not be broken from misuse. Additionally, there is a high risk of injury with this gear if you were to crash etc.
