The Great Ocean Walk

Since the full length Great Ocean walk hasn’t been ran recently, I figure it’s time we give it a go!! With the hustle of exams in the rear view, embark on this 4 day trip as we traverse some of the prettiest beaches and trail in the country. Starting at the 12 Apostles (before we get charged), we’ll traverse the traditionally east-west walk starting in the west because I feel like it.  

Since this trip has long walking days, participants must have previous overnight experience and be comfortable walking around 20kms daily with loaded packs. Walking pace would be around 4 km/h though this is a rough estimate.

If we have extra cars, I'll consider tailoring the plan to balance out the distance. 

Drive from clubrooms to Apollo Bay at 0930; arrive at 1300 or leave early and explore neighboring towns. We will see 

Catch the 1320 Vline to Twelve Apostles

Day 1: Twelve Apostles - Devil’s Kitchen (16.4km, 325m elevation) 

Start walking by 1500 

Day 2: Devil’s Kitchen - Johanna’s beach (26.5, 781m elevation)

Start walking by 0800

Day 3: Johanna’s beach - Blanket Bay (33km, 727m elevation )

Movement time at 0630

Day 4: Blanket Bay - Apollo Bay (22.2km, 564m elevation)

0900 is latest time to start 

Arrive back at Clubrooms around 2000. 

Fuel should be approximately $30/ person +$5.70 vline + camp sites (about $25)

I've not put any participant limits yet but come to the trip meeting if you're committed and we'll proceed. More experienced hikers will be preference.
