As you are hopefully aware, MUMC has gear that we can hire out to members who don't have gear that they need on club trips. It can be hired after your trip meeting on Tuesdays, starting from 7pm. Return is typically one week later during/after the meeting.
We have a gear hire policy which dictates how gear is to be hired out and the conditions of hire. Price spreadsheets are separate and can be found in the relevant gear stores on the walls.
During the June committee meeting, the committee approved an updated policy, making amendments from the 2017 iteration. The major changes are as follows:
- Committee members are no longer eligible for free gear hire, rather get half-price.
- You must give 48-hour notice to the relevant sports officer if you are not able to return the gear by the agreed upon time as written in the gear hire book.*
- You will loose your full deposit (typically $50) if gear is returned late without appropriate notice.*
- The BSAR gear hire policy has been integrated into the policy.
Not respecting the policy means that other club members are not able to use the gear or participate on trips.
*If you inform the respective officer or other relevant person 48 hours before the agreed return time that you will not be able to return the gear on time, then you may be able to extend your gear hire by one week or arrange alternative gear return.
