Requirements: My computer can't add in a description for some reason, nor will it let me form paragraphs, so info is here in a block of text.

My aim is to run a 1 hour intro session on the (topographic) maps that we use in planning and on adventures.

I won't be able to get through everything, but will hopefully run future sessions, getting gradually more advanced as we go.

Topics likely to be covered tomorrow: What is a map; Marginal information; Difference between True North and Magnetic North; Eastings and Northings; Grid References; Land Formations; and Roamers

Later topics: Bearings; Back Bearing; Resections; Pacing; Aiming off; and Datum

This is not intended just for rogainers or hikers. Everyone is welcome, as the skills are transferable into almost every club activity (except for maybe canoe polo ...)

If you can't make it tomorrow and this session is of interest, let me know of a future time that suits you for a repeat.

It will be upstairs in the room next to the Theatre. Bring pens and paper!
