Join us on a trip to the MUMC hut on Mt Feathertop to do some maintenance over the Labour Day Weekend (11-13/14th March).

The main purpose of the trip is to carry out maintenance on the hut, however a side trip up to the summit of Mt Feathertop will also likely occur for new members who haven’t been to the hut before.

Maintenance work planned includes installing liners in both water tanks, mechanically sealing the nodes, replacing the skylight, sanding and painting the exterior and varnishing the floor/sleeping platform.

Practical experience is a plus, however none is required and we need plenty of people to help with the sanding, painting and carrying equipment over to the hut. This would also be a great trip for new members looking to get involved in the club and see the hut designed, built and maintained by MUMC members.

The plan is to leave Melbourne Friday night and camp at Diamantina Hut near Mt Hotham. Early Saturday morning we’ll cross the Southern Razorback to MUMC Hut. This route is fairly flat following the ridgeline and can be completed in less than 4 hours. The rest of Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be hut maintenance and any side trips up to the summit. There will be car(s) returning on Sunday night for those who have Uni on Monday, with the rest returning on Monday evening.

Trip meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday 8th of March at the clubrooms (169-171 Berkeley Street) opposite the Spot building.
