Requirements: all explained above no trip meeting etc, I am posting this as it seemed interesting

Interested in hands-on field work experience in endangered species conservation in a location few people get to visit? Check out this volunteering opportunity to be a volunteer field assistant on Christmas Island and help with research into the decline of endemic reptile species.

Reptile conservation research on Christmas Island.
Volunteers will be required between August 2015 and March 2016, with a preferred time commitment of 2-3 months (negotiable). Applications close June 30.

Requirements include being comfortable working outdoors in heat and humidity, high level of fitness for walking over rugged terrain, willingness to work hard etc. This posting has been distributed through the Ecological Society of Australia and is research rather than conservation focused, so a demonstrated interest in ecological research and/or in reptiles  will likely be advantageous.

Free accommodation is provided, but volunteers will need to cover the cost of airfares to/from Christmas Island (approx. $1000 from Perth) and cost of food during their stay.
