Expressions of Interest close 23rd October!

SPRATS is a project which has been running in Tasmania for 10 years. Each January groups of 4-8 experienced and self-reliant bushwalkers comb stretches of Tasmania's remote, Wilderness World Heritage coastlines to remove Sea Spurge and Marram Grass, two invasive weeds.

If you are a self-reliant bushwalker and would like to see some of Tasmania's most rugged and untouched coast lines, this is a fantastic opportunity. Your days will involve traveling along your designated stretch of coast and scanning for weeds. After 10 years of SPRATS' efforts weed numbers are quite low, so the weeding itself is not too overwhelming. There are different stretches of beach available, some more difficult than others and for durations of 5-10 days. Some stretches of coast are so remote that groups are dropped off by plane or helicopter.

If you would like to apply to participate in this project please get in touch with me at . I can forward you a more detailed information pack, and having particiated in SPRATS 2 years ago I might be able to help with any questions you have.
