Week(end) in the Alpine National Park

Trip cancelled due to lack of interest - I know it's a busy time of year for everyone! I might go away anyway though, so if you're keen for an adventure, come and talk to me at the meeting tonight (6/12/16)

Who else is keen to escape the city and spend some time in the mountains before Christmas?

Current thinking is to leave Melbourne early on the Wednesday morning, have a few days up on the Bogong High Plains (or similar) then a couple of days somewhere else e.g. Mt Cobbler, Mt Speculation (or similar) so that people who are only free at the weekend can join in too.

A good option for the weekend could be Mt Howitt-Crosscut Saw-Mt Speculation and back, but current road conditions mean this is not accessible to 2WD vehicles - therefore anyone with a 4WD would be particularly welcome!

Final destination will be confirmed at the trip meeting- this will depend on the weather forecast, car availability and group preferences/level of experience.

This trip will probably involve some overnight hiking and/or challenging terrain (and hopefully plenty of relaxation time as well!). Ideally you will have been on at least one overnight hike before, but beginners who have been on daywalks and have a good level of fitness are welcome too.
