Leaders: Anja F, Anton J
Standard: Everyone welcome
Meeting: Tue, 28 Feb 2017, 7:30 pm

The pool is booked for Sunday 1-3pm.

Anna and me are back from Kayak School in New Zealand and want to pass on our now eeeeextensive (pronounce ixtinsive like the kiwis) rolling skills.

This session will be a small session to ensure we can optimise good training. You don't have to know how to roll yet. The only prerequisite is that you are able to swim. And preferably interested in the sport :)

You will have to have watched the first 30 minutes of this video about the sweep roll BEFORE the trip to get a basic understanding of the principles:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_nvVwnrIhg

If you don't know how to roll yet and show up and haven't watched it we won't take you to the pool. Seriously.

We will also discuss some rolling footage from our NZ pool sessions in the club rooms beforehand to demonstrate some common mistakes, then head to the pool and practise, finishing off with videoing each other. We will head back to MUMC and clean our gear.  Afterwards we sit together and discuss our rolls over a cup of tea.

We have tried the videoing in the past and found that people just run off after the pool session. This is not the aim! From experience the videoing adds a ton of understanding to what you are doing right and wrong and we can't emphasise it too much how much it helps to get a good roll!!

We are super keen to make the start into your river life as happy and easy as possible with those sessions. A good roll makes your and your trip leaders life a lot easier! So please be aware that the trip won't be a two hour procedure but will possibly take longer but you'll be getting lots out of it (or at least we hope so).

PS: If you have signed up to the trip, and receive a confirmation Email with further Email from me and you don't show up to the session we will still ask you to contribute to the cost to cover for the pool hire. Otherwise this is not fair to the others.
