Want to climb Victoria's highest peak? Want to try some overnight hiking? Want a relaxing weekend in the high country? If yes, come join me in hiking up Mt Bogong this weekend.

This trip is open to people of all experience levels, although you should be reasonably fit as the route is quite steep! As the hike will involve camping and carrying your own gear, everyone attending should have at least been on a day walk before so it is not too much of a step up. All gear that you'll need (other than shoes) you will be able to hire from MUMC.

Numbers are a bit dependent on the number of cars and leaders available, but hoping for 10 people (two cars).

The basic plan:

- Friday:  leave Melbourne Friday night (6ish) and camp at Mountain Creek on Friday night.

- Saturday: we'll walk up the Staircase and camp near Cleve Cole hut that night. We'll be cooking our meals on camping stoves and will have carried our tents and all our sleeping equipment up. There is a waterfall nearby we can visit from there.

- Sunday: we'll head down Eskadale Spur or maybe the staircase and then return to Melbourne, aiming to be back by 6pm or so.

You must attend the Tuesday trip meeting if you want to attend the trip. Sign up here before the meeting as places will fill up.

Email me at if you have any questions.
