Jointly organised with the fun-loving folks of the RMIT Outdoors Club, we’ve decided on some merry-making in the bush and explore this beautiful part of the Alpine National Park.

We’ll set off Friday night, camp out and start the walk with a full pack on Saturday from McFarlane Saddle for approximately 30km over two days to Wellington River Bridge (Saturday: 20km, Sunday: 10km).

There’ll be a few river crossings on Sunday towards the end of the walk. You won’t need to float your pack but it’ll be good to get psyched up just in case your feet get wet.

It’s a through walk so a car shuffle is needed.

Trip dates: 11-13 December 2015

Trip highlights:

- Tread the attractive Wellington Plains

- Lunch at Lake Tali Karng

- Explore Edward Snowden Falls

- Observe remnants of the 2006 bushfires and a heartening regrowth

- Walk down the Valley of Destruction

- Build a campfire along the Wellington River

- Cross XX number of fords of the Wellington River

- Sweepstake: Lay your wager on the number of river crossings

Dress theme: Fluros and Spandex

Things to bring:

The usual bushcraft (you’ll be walking approximately 30km over two days with a full pack) + CYOB (Carry your own BEvERage) + your awesome fluros and spandex costume

(If you want to bring a big tent, you are most welcome to. We are hoping to party in someone’s big tent!)

Level: Energetic (The good kind)

Beginners who have never been on an overnight walk before, please have a chat to me (at Tuesday meetings or via Teamapp chat here). We’ll assess your suitability to carry that big party tent for us.
