Grade 2 whitewater kayaking on the Yarra near Warrandyte, most likely Witton's Loop (https://www.adventurepro.com.au/paddleaustralia/pa.cgi?action=details&id=yarrariver2) Open to new members and first-time paddlers who can swim confidently.

Numbers will be determined by cars and leaders available.

General plan will be:

  • 07:30 - Meet at club rooms to collect gear and load the cars
  • 10:30 - Arrive at Lower Homestead Road to do the car shuttle
  • 11:30 - Everyone on the river and perform capsize drills if necessary
  • 13:00 - Lunch at Bob's Rock
  • 15:00 - Take out at Witton's Reserve and pack the cars
  • 16:30-17:00 - Return to club rooms to wash and hang gear

This might get a little more stretched out due to the longer evenings, but we'll see how we're doing for time on the day.

Gear you need to bring:

  • Secure footwear for in the boat. No thongs.
  • Lunch
  • Water bottle
  • Wet set of clothes, preferably thermal, such as wool or synthetic. No cotton, as this saps your body heat when wet
  • A towel and dry change of clothes for the take out
  • Sunscreen/sunnies with a securing headband

Gear supplied/for hire:

  • Kayak
  • Paddle
  • Wetsuit
  • Cag
  • Helmet
  • Buoyancy aid
  • Spray deck

The trip cost is $25 to cover gear hire and fuel costs for the drivers. This is to be paid in cash at the Tuesday meeting.
