Film: Touching the Void

Upstairs after the regular club meeting, a screening of Touching the Void.  A film based on the well known book of the same name written by climber Joe Simpson, this films tells the story of a daring first ascent in the Peruvian Andes, followed by a heroic self rescue effort after they run into trouble.

I've yet to come across a film which combines a very realistic portrayal of technical alpine mountaineering combined with such an interesting story. Perhaps it's enough to put you off climbing? Perhaps it's a wake up call? Perhaps, like me when I first watched it, you will find the ups and downs and the emotions conveyed during their journey captivating? There's only  one way to find out.

Everyone's welcome. If you haven't seen this film, I 100 percent recommend it to anyone who's interested in outdoor adventures, which I guess means pretty much anyone in MUMC!
