GECO is a conservation initiative in the beautiful forests of east gippsland. Periodically they run citizen science camps. These are opportunities for the public to get involved in their conservation activities. This can include wildlife surveys, vegetation classing, carbon accounting and learning how to protest logging through demonstrations and lobbying.

Volunteers camp in a local campsite and have the opportunity to get involved in the days activities. This is an excellent way to actively get involved in forest conservation and learn about ecological impact and political complexities of logging in Victoria. You'll also meet other conservation folk and enjoy the beautiful forest surrounds.

This event runs for 10 days but you can drop by and get involved in any of the days. I'm not able to attend this year, but please let me know if you have any questions- . Carpooling is often possible with non-mumc attendees.
