Ahead of the first rogaine of the year, I'm planning to run a navigation training session after the Tuesday trip meeting.
Will cover:
- how to read contours and map features
- how to take a bearing using the compass
- general navigation tips and tricks
After the session you should be able to put the theory into practice at the rogaine on the weekend. Whilst a rogaine is a competition, you absolutely do not have to participate competitively and can just use it as an opportunity to practice the skills in the field in a somewhat supervised environment.
