Arise, Iron Chefs! Enter the culinary arena!

Congratulations chef, you’ve made it through the gruelling preliminary qualifying stages (toast and microwave popcorn) and are invited to the MUMC Battle-Dome to put your culinary skills to the ultimate test. Many will try, but only one team will be crowned as OXO-Chefs of 2018.

We’ll be walking to the hut along the Razorback on Saturday, so a beginner friendly walk in the right conditions. This will probably mean most people will want to leave Melbourne on Friday afternoon. If the weather’s good, I might also ride up from Harrietville to the trailhead (~1000m up, 28km), maybe others will also want to?

At 6pm sharp, the gong will sound and the mystery ingredient will be revealed! Teams of four have 2 hours to create their dishes to impress the judges.

Rules:

- Prepare an entrée, main, dessert and beverage (alcoholic or not)

- All dishes must feature (not just include) the mystery ingredient

- Chefs hats and aprons are mandatory (team coordination is encouraged)

- All teams need a name, names must be good

Impress the judges to be crowned the OXO-Chefs and secure your place in MUMC history!

Sunday will be a relaxed departure from the hut, maybe we’ll get up for a sunrise on the summit of Feathertop or something daft. We’ll try to make a group stop on the way home to make sure our drivers are getting a bit of a rest.

This is going to be a beginner friendly trip, but should just be a plain old good weekend for everyone, so it’d be great to have a big group of both old and new members out there! Depending on the group size and weather, camping gear might be a good idea. Come to the trip meeting on Tuesday, we’ll sort out teams, cars and gear.

PLEASE LET US KNOW OF ANY ALLERGIES!!! Even if it’s on your medical form, because hopefully there’s going to be a ridiculous array of different foods around the hut that you’d never expect on a regular trip.
