Preamble

The running of this trip will be dependent on another leader stepping forwards, I'll be running a ski trip up Mt Bogong this weekend and will be able to help with running a snowshoeing trip at the same time.

The leader should have been on a snow walk before, but prior trip leader is not necessary. Send me a Facebook message if you're keen.

Trip details

Mount Bogong is the highest mountain in Victoria and so has great views of the entire eastern state. This also exposes it to quite a bit of weather so don't forget warm clothes.

Difficulty

These trips are suitable for fit beginners, but require at least one experienced person in the group to act as a leader. Grade 2 trips venture into more remote areas than Grade 1 trips where there is some objective hazard such as alpine weather, a steep or poorly marked route that requires some navigational skill. Travel will usually be on tracks, but there may be some small off track sections. Participants can expect to have some big climbs (1500m) and descents and be walking for between 5 and 9 hours each day including breaks.
