Do over time....
Leave Melbourne Friday night to camp at Mountain Creek.
Setup the car shuffle Saturday morning (Junction Picnic Area, Bogong), before heading up Staircase Spur (will be very steep). Will take a several hours, hopefully we'll be at the summit around lunch time. We'll head along Quartz Ridge and make camp at either Cairn Creek Hut or Bogong Creek Saddle.
Sunday we'll make our way towards Mt Arthur, and then down Black Possum Spur to Bogong Village. From there we'll collect the cars and head back to Melbourne.
Saturday: 16km and ~1400m of ascent
> All the uphill will be at the start of day, it will be very similar to the hike up the NW spur to the MUMC hut, for those who have done it.
> After the summit, it's fairly flat and exposed with some down hill to our campsite for the night, it will be proper bush camping, so be aware.
Sunday: ~10km and ~700m of descent
> Some uphill at the start of the day to regain the ridge, and then down hill for almost the whole way to bogong village
