Planning an out and back walk to lake Tali Karng, also known as the hidden lake. Been dying to go for ages and am super keen to take a peek! This trip will take place at the tail end of the mid sem break (9-11 April). Will open sign ups when I’m more sure of trip capacity.

Plan is camp along the Wellington river on Friday night, then on Saturday, we’ll hike up the river about 13km and set up camp. Will make the 5km walk up to the lake as a side trip without packs on either the Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. Back in melbs by Sunday night. Won’t be camping at the lake as it is an indigenous sacred site, and it has been requested that visitors not camp on the lake.

The trail has a bunch of river crossings and is fairly steep in parts. A solid intermediate trip. To go on this trip you must have previous overnight hiking experience and reasonable fitness. A good initiation into alpine hiking if you’re keen to head into the high country this year!

** if you’re keen to start leading your own trips, drop me a line and you can help plan/lead this trip
