Trailing through snow gum forest, Mt St Gwinear to Mt Whitelaw is a 25km beginner-intermediate overnight hike. Hikers should have good general fitness and be prepared for cold and changeable weather.

The plan is to meet at the club rooms on Friday afternoon, drive to Mt St Gwinear, and camp at Jeep Track Flat or Camp Flat that night. Saturday we will hike 12km to Whitelaw Hut Ruins and Camp there. Sunday we will do the return hike to the car and drive back to Melbourne on Sunday evening. Most likely we'll stop for a pub dinner on the drive home.

Be aware that there are no toilet facilities or treated water on this hike. All water will need to be filtered from creeks. The current weather forecast is cold and dry (-2 to 7*), but can change quickly in the alpine region.

We will go over gear lists, gear hire, and car groups at the Tuesday night meeting. This meeting is compulsory for anyone wanting to attend who isn't ticked off as a leader.

It would be great to have a second leader on board and anyone looking to become a leader should give a shout out in the sign ups.
