A bit of a different trip. Considering getting Public Transport to the ferry at Stony Point.

Planning to spend the weekend at French Island National Park (an Island near Mornington Peninsula, accessible only by ferry). Should be pretty cruisey, the highest point on the island that we might visit is only 66m elevation, so nothing strenuous. The trip is open to all abilities, you just need to be prepared to carry a full pack for 5km, and cover up to 12km in a day. If you're after a challenging hike, this might not be the one for you.

The island has the densest population of koalas in the world, so fair odds we'll see a few. There's also some RAMSAR wetlands and shrub land which should be interesting. I've never visited the island - so it'll be a bit of an adventure for all. The ferry is $17 return for PTV concessions, or $27 full fare.

Plan is:
- Catch the ferry to French Island from Stony Point (near Hastings) at 10:00 Saturday. This will need to be pre-booked
- Walk 5km with packs and water supplies (at least 5L each - there is no reliable water source on the island) to Fairhaven campground (I have already reserved campsites)
- Spend the afternoon exploring the island. Could visit the wetlands, mudflats, go koala spotting, or swim if it's warm.
- Sunday we'll do a little more exploring, and then head back to catch the return ferry to Stony Point at 3:00 pm.

Will open sign-ups and provide more details a bit closer to the trip date.
