This evening session will cover introductory knowledge for leadership. This session (as well as the session on risk management) is compulsory to lead trips within MUMC, so if you're thinking of becoming a leader or even just interested come along.

It's been a while since the last one of these was run, so it is highly recommended that leaders who haven't attended one of these workshop in more than 3 years come to brush up.

Some topics that can be covered include:

  • Dealing with conflict
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Risk management principles and applications for activities
  • General first aid response
  • Understanding duty of care
  • Environmental impact
  • Detailed trip planning
  • Understanding and applying weather information
  • Navigation

Given the scope of this workshop, we may not get a chance to cover everything in this list.

The workshop will take place in the projector room upstairs at the clubrooms after the main meeting. I'll do my best to make it as interactive as possible so we don't end up with a death-by-PowerPoint situation. Discussion is highly encouraged.

If you can't make this session but are super keen then let me know so that we can run these sessions more often.
