Hey All,

Join me for a screening of The Last Mountain at Cinema Nova!!

The Last Mountain documents the story of Tom Ballard and the journey that lead to his death on Nanga Parbat in Pakistan. Tom's mother, Alison Hargreaves died 25 years earlier, less than 100 miles away descending K2. She was the first person to solo the 6 great north faces of the Alps in a single season and the first woman to climb Everest and K2 unaided.

This documentary explores why we pursue goals despite the risk, pushing to extremes, and approaching the edge of our physical and metal limits. It is a story of love, family and grief as Tom's sister, Kate, and their father, Jim, learn of Tom's death and come to terms with their grief.

I have seen this film and recommend it for anyone who loves mountains and has a heart. It was directed and filmed by Chris Terrill and produced by Olivia Lichtenstein and Julia Nottingham. Chris and Olivia have been filming with the family since Alison's death and this is the story of Tom they never wanted to have to make.

I had the opportunity to interview Chris and Olivia which will be in the upcoming edition of The Mountaineer Magazine (coming in March).
