Bushwalking

Leaders: Meghan M, Lingshu L
Standard: Beginner
Meeting: Tue, 29 Mar 2022, 7:00 pm

Requirements: Reasonable level of fitness, have hiked before but interested in doing longer day-walks and working towards more challenging bushwalking

Lingshu and I (Meg) will be leading a trip to Lerderderg State Park on Sunday. We will be hiking a 15.8 km circuit through somewhat rugged terrain. There are a few steep sections, some creek crossing and some nice views! This will be a challenging day walk if you're unused to the distance, but a great opportunity for some of our beginners from intro trip to challenge themselves!

This trip is for women and non-binary folx. We're aiming to create a safe space where people new to bushwalking can challenge themselves. We are also planning on having an open discussion around hygiene on the trail, including how to navigate periods on multi-day bushwalks- a topic many of us navigate but never openly discuss!

We will discuss travel options at the meeting on Tuesday night. There will be at least one car going up and there's a possibility that some people can take the V-Line to Bacchus Marsh and get picked up at the train station and taken to Lerderderg. We will plan to be on the trail by 9:00 AM (this will work with the train schedule if necessary). We will aim to be back in Melbourne by 8:00 PM. Sign up if you're interested!

Hope to see you at the trip meeting on Tues March 29th.
