This is a flatwater kayaking trip with the clubs’ new fleet of sea/touring kayaks. The trip is aimed at beginners and those with little to no experience kayaking.

We will start at Bellbird Picnic area (in Kew) at 10am, following the Yarra River downstream where we will exit briefly before Dight’s Falls to stretch our legs, have some lunch and enjoy the views. We’ll then double back to the picnic area and conclude the trip (12pm).

There will be a meeting the week before which will be a requirement for everyone attending the trip. Here, we’ll run through the trip plan and organise gear hire. Bring thermal layers, as we will be getting wet. No jeans or cotton!

This is an excellent stretch of the river which navigates through beautiful scenery and wildlife, and is the home to Victoria’s largest colony of native grey-headed flying foxes. Because the club only has 3 kayaks, the limit of members who be able to attend will be 2. Preference will be given to those with a car with a tow ball/roof racks.
