Great Ocean Walk from Apollo Bay to Aire River

Hey guys,

I'm planning to walk along the Great Ocean Walk for 2 days during the weekend of 17-19 June. Leaving Melbourne on Friday evening and returning on late Sunday evening. Camping one night in Apollo Bay at a camp group we'll need to book in advance and one night at Blanket Bay camp site (just next to the ocean and no booking/fee required if we choose to camp at the non-Great Ocean Walkers campsite).

The bushwalking is varied with costal forest, ocean and farmland views. Track is easy/medium/hard, where the beach walk can be tough if we're walking in high tide. Hopefully the beach walk will be "dramatic" with big swells and no storm winds.

GOW is around 100km long, starting in Apollo Bay and ending by the 12 Apostles (by Glenample Homestead). It's a famous walk with lots of beautiful views and scenary to take in along the track.

If we're really lucky we might even see some whales along the coast since the whale season starts in June.

Plan: To walk from the beginning of the GOW, starting in Apollo Bay and finishing by Aire River.

Saturday hike route: Apollo Bay - Marengo - Shelly Beach - Blanket Bay =  20.9km

Sunday hike route: Blanket Bay - Cape Otway Lighthouse (with a side walk to Rainbow Falls) - Aire River = 19.6km

Trip meeting will be on Tuesday 7th of June @ 7.10pm!

Need: At least 2 cars to do the shuffle between the start and the end of the walk (one car in Apollo Bay and one car by Aire River). Keen walkers with lots of beach walking enthusiasm :)

Please note that the trip can be canceled due to weather conditions (storm/strong winds etc) or if we don't have 2 cars for the shuffle.
