Notorious tourist traps abound but the Dandenong Ranges make a surprisingly pleasant environment for a long days walk. Accessible by public transport the plan is to walk through some of the highlights of the area and catch as much as possible in a single day. Expect 20-25km of walking at a moderate pace, achievable by most people with enthusiasm, but not a short walk-in-the-park.
Only planning to go if the weather is good enough for an ice-cream break in the afternoon. A daily train ticket and your lunch/food are the only costs.
