late season Bogong snow

The highest summit in Victoria, Mt Bogong looms large as an isolated peak just under 2000m in elevation with a convenient carpark under 10km of walking to the peak. Only problem is the 1400m of unrelenting up,up,UP-hill to get there, on a track called "staircase" with good reason. Once above the snowline there is exposure in every sense and every direction.

Exact route to be planned between the participants, camping either at one of the huts on the mountain and/or at the cars (walking the loop as a day trip is possible).

It is unlikely there will be enough cover for snow sports or even needing snowshoes by this date, but the alpine environment always presents significant dangers. Adding the strenuous physical effort needed this trip is on the upper end of difficulty so open only to participants with overlapping prior experience.
