Five Mile Beach, WPNP

Hi all,

In collaboration with Luke Spencer, I will run a trip to Five Mile Beach in the northern section of Wilsons Prom NP. Although the northern section on the Prom is famous for poorly marked trails, we will be mainly following a management vehicle track. Cost of camping will be $14.40 per person, and transport costs TBA. Below is a rough plan:

Friday 3rd Feb: Leave from Mount Waverley Station around 18:00. Pub meal in Fish Creek/Meeniyan. Drive to Five Mile carpark. Walk to Barry Creek Camp 6.5km, 2h15mins.

Saturday 4th Feb: Walk to Five Mile Beach 12.2km, 3.5h. Camp, swim, explore, relax etc.

Sunday 5th Feb: Return to Five Mile carpark 18.7km, 5h45mins. Drive back to Mount Waverley.

I have decided to make this trip intermediate. Please only join if you are comfortable with the following points.

-Walking and setting up camp in the dark on Friday night.

-There are no toilets, so we will have to squat in the bushes.

-Water may be scarce so we will need to carry plenty.

-Walking long distances possibly in hot weather.

-Commuting to/from Mount Waverley Station.
