300 metres straight up Mt. Dandenong. Twice. With packs. So this will be slowish, but there will be progression to meet time targets and improve week by week.

As a rough track slowish is good!
Join me for an alpine training hike around 45mins away from Melbourne CBD by car starting the gig at 6.30 pm. The event is weather dependant so it will only take place if it's not raining.
This trip will take us up the most rugged tracks that literally go straight up the side of Mt Dandy. Affectionately known as the Glasgow track.
This will be a tough and hard workout, not a walk in the park.

And guess what, we will do it twice! Yes we are doing it twice so you'll need a head torch. Feel free to only do it once but twice is the go.
The track is quite rocky & slippery, a sprained ankle is a possibility as well as blisters, hiking boots & walking pole/s highly recommended. This track is great for training, if you're keen take a heavy pack.
I'll be off by 6.30pm so please turn up by 6.20pm. Yeah traffic can be a nightmare at this time so take this into account.

The aims of this training program are:
*To increase confidence in hiking with a pack in steep alpine areas, to actively improve cardio and hiking technique.
*To build a regular training routine (ideally once a week).
*To attain greater fitness and maintain that fitness.

Please note: The ball is in your court to arrange your own carpooling/transport. Training will commence and conclude at the trailhead carpark. I will be traveling in from the south so offering carpool most likely won’t be feasible.

At the moment date is subject to change, this is an expression of interest to gauge interest. It may become a regular activity on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night (after work hours).

What to do:
Pack a hiking pack as you would for a hike, use this trip to test out your hiking gear to see how it performs with temperature regulation/waterproofness/durability etc. Good opportunity to also wear in new hiking boots.
Can fill your pack with water bottles (that can be poured out if too heavy) - I'll be packing 20+ kilos worth.
