Requirements: Keen walkers who can walk at least 8 hours per day with a walking speed of at least 3.4km/hour for Saturday and 3.6km/hour for Sunday.

Hey happy walkers,

Since the first part of the Great Ocean walk was such a successful walk I'm now planning to walk the last 2 walking parts of the GOW during 2 days over the weekend of 8-10 July.

Leaving Melbourne on Friday evening and returning on late Sunday evening. Camping first night by Aire River West (no fee) and one night by Ryans Den GOW Campsite (which needs to be booked and paid before we leave Melbourne, cost TBD). If I remember correctly, Ryans Den has the most awesome pit toilet view ... of the ocean :).

The bushwalking is various with costal views, beach walk, river crossing, steep climbs to cliff tops, inland country roads, breathtaking lookout points and the finish has the impressive views of the Twelve Apostles.

GOW is a 100km long walking track on the west side of Victoria, we'll start by Aire River West and finish by the 12 Apostles by Glenample Homestead. Total walking coverage for the 2 day's hike will be 56.2km.

If we're really lucky we might even see some whales along the coast since the whale season starts in June.

Plan: To walk from the middle of the GOW and finish by the end, just south of the 12 Apostles.

Saturday hike route: Aire River West - Johanna Beach - Ryans Den =  27.2km (medium/hard)

Sunday hike route: Ryans Den - Devils Kitchen - Glenample Homestead = 29km (hard/medium/easy)

Need: At least 2 cars to do the shuffle between the start and the end of the walk (one car by Aire River and and one car by Glenample Homestead).

Info: There is untreated water at each campsites along the track and pit toilet. For more detailed information about GOW please read on Park Vic: http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1process_details.cfm?place=238 or Visit Victoria: http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.4AE3F158-9782-45D6-A7FC88F3C040AFAD/
Please note that the trip can be canceled due to weather conditions (storm/strong winds etc) or if we don't have 2 cars for the shuffle.

Trip meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th of June @ 7pm so we can sort out the GOW hike-in camping fee since I need to book and pay the camp fee to Parks Vic way before we leave Melbourne.

Maximum 12 walkers on this trip!

Feel free to contact me on or call on 0405-062451.

Cheers & see ya, Ingrid
