Women's trip to MUMC Hut

- Women's Trip to the MUMC Hut - 

This trip is open to people of all skill levels from advanced and want to help carry some stuff down from the hut, to complete beginners who want to be taught how to set up a tent. 

We will be leaving on Wednesday to do the majority of the drive (5hrs) and camp at a campsite in Smoko. From there, we will drive up to Diamantina hut and start our walk along the razorback. The razorback is a 10km walk that is undulating, so you'll use your legs, they might be a bit sore, but it is more than achievable. This day will probably take us 5hrs including breaks.

The MUMC Memorial hut is just over 2km from the end of the razorback. We can drop our packs and walk up to the summit or keep on heading along to the hut. 

On Friday we will backtrack a bit to the start of the razorback and then walk down Bungalow spur. This is a wide track and downhill all the way back to Harrietville. It will probably take us around 2.5-3hrs, including breaks. From Harrietville we will do a bit of a car shuffle and then head back to Melbourne!

It should be a great opportunity to have a nice chat, enjoy our beautiful hut, play some card games and get out of town!

We will be hiking in an alpine environment, where it can snow any time of year. So it'll be important to have adequate gear and clothing including but not limited to; a rain jacket, polyester or merino thermals, a down sleeping bag, a beanie and gloves. MUMC can help you with the hire of many of these items and others can be purchased affordably at gear stores.
