Great Southern Rail Trail

Hi all,

Who would be interested in joining me on a walk on the Great Southern Rail Trail? I would like to walk a couple of sections of the trail from Leongatha to Fish Creek, totalling about 34 kilometres over the weekend. While this hike may not have the most spectacular views, it will be a good chance to get to know some towns in South Gippsland and enjoy some food and drink in some traditional Aussie pubs. As a bonus, this hike will be totally accessible by public transport. Approximate cost for accommodation and transportation is $25.

An approximate plan for the weekend would be;

Saturday 6th May

Vline bus from Southern Cross, 09:03 to Leongatha, 11:08

Hike from Leongatha to Meeniyan, 16km

Camp overnight at Meeniyan Recreation Reserve

Dinner and drinks at Meeniyan Hotel

Sunday 7th May

Hike from Meeniyan to Fish Creek, 18km

Vline bus at 17:31 to Southern Cross, 20:15
