Requirements: good fittness and equipment to camp in pretty cold weather (around 3°C and possibly morning frost)

We haven't had a day walk in a while, so we are planning one in the Lerderderg State Park. But, we will be driving out to the park on Saturday night and camp one night at O'Briens crossing (campfires are allowed, yay!). On Sunday we will walk about 6-7 hours on a round track starting on the East Walk, following the Lerderderg River. The Lerderderg State Park near Bacchus Marsh protects a variety of vegetation from fern gullies to dry open forests and contains some relics of early goldmining. There will be plenty of opportunity to spot wildlife (Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and many many birds) and nice scenery. Seeing as it has been raining so much lately, we might have to cross some creeks (be prepared to get your feet wet). Some of the walk will also be a little steep, so your fitness level should be up for it and you should be well equiped to camp in cold weather.

Talk to Mona or Tanya at the trip meeting on Tuesday, if you have any questions or (even better) want to come along. Hope to see you there!

There is also a possibility to just join us for a daywalk on Sunday. If you're interested in that, drop us an email () and we can tell you if there are any cars going there on Sunday morning.
