Imagine yourself walking along a picturesque trail, immersing in the sights and sounds of the Australian bush, spotting local wildlife along the way, and sharing stories around a pub meal at night. If that sounds appealing, then our upcoming three-day adventure on the renowned O'Keefe Rail Trail is just for you.

Day 1: Friday, 7th of July

We commence our journey with a 3:00pm departure from Southern Cross on a VLine coach to Heathcote, our starting point. Upon reaching our destination, we'll nestle into the serenity of the Heathcote Queen Meadow Caravan Park, a charming spot known for its tranquil atmosphere.

After we've set up camp, we'll dive into local culture with a heartwarming dinner at a classic Aussie pub. Let's toast to the adventure that awaits us!

Day 2: Saturday, 8th of July

We rise with the sun and head to the local cafe. Here, the scents of freshly baked pastries and brewing coffee will coax your senses awake. Whether you're a foodie, a caffeine-lover, or both, you'll find your morning fix here.

Then, it's time to embark on the highlight of our trip - a delightful 28-km walk to Axedale via the scenic O'Keefe Rail Trail. Make sure to pack your lunch, as we'll be picnicking amidst nature's beauty. Don't let the distance intimidate you - it's a gentle downhill journey, made all the more comfortable by the wide, easy rail trail.

Once we reach the Knowsley State Forest, we'll set up camp among the lush greenery. As the evening settles, we'll head to the highly-rated local tavern in Axedale for a well-deserved hearty dinner.

Day 3: Sunday, 9th of July

Remember to bring your own breakfast as the Tavern doesn't have a breakfast menu, and only opens at 8:30 for coffee. After a quick coffee at Axedale Tavern, we'll trek the remaining 22 kms to Bendigo. This path will lead us through enchanting landscapes that echo the stories of a bygone era.

Once in Bendigo, we'll board the VLine train back to Southern Cross Station, wrapping up our delightful adventure.
