*trip postponed due to extreme weather warning*

A very pretty circuit walk not too far from Melbourne on Taungurung land, with some of Victoria's only decent scrambling to be enjoyed on the way up Wells Cave Track. This is an ideal walk for those interested in getting into hikes with lots of ups and downs that need your hands! I will try and give tips as we go for those less experienced, however if you are totally terrified of heights I would recommend you do some easier hikes first. There is decent elevation gain and total distance is around 17km for the day.

Access via Neds Gully campsite due to Cerberus road still being uncertain.

Trip Itinerary:

-7am: Meet clubrooms

~9am: Start walking from Ned's Gully campground, ~3km flat walk to Cooks Mill campground

~10am: Start circuit proper, clockwise returning to Cooks Mill ~11km and ~650m elevation

~1:30pm: Depart Cooks mill campground, return to Ned's Gully campground, ~3km

~2:30pm: Return to Melbourne approx. 4-6pm sort of time.

This trip will be weather dependant, as the scrambling would be a much more serious undertaking in the wet. Rain gear is essential this time of year even for a day walk. There is always some inherent risk to scrambling and exposure when hiking and participants should be comfortable with this risk going into the trip.

A rather rough map of the route can be found below. Send me an email if you have any questions and if there's anything I can do that'll make this hike more accessible to you! :)
