Dear all,

Who is interested in a weekend hike at Wilsons Prom? The track between Tidal River and Little Oberon Bay has reopened after being repaired from water damage, so I’m keen to check it out. I originally wanted to camp at Oberon Bay, but it looks like it is fully booked out. I opted for Halfway Hut instead, which is not as scenic but will give us more flexibility to explore other areas of the Prom such as South Point, which is the southern-most point of mainland Australia. A rough plan would be;

Friday 24th November

Meet at Mount Waverley Station at approximately 17:00 and drive to Telegraph Saddle Car Park. We can have dinner somewhere along the way in Korumburra or Leongatha. After some car shuffling it will probably already be dark, so please only join if you feel comfortable with this, and you have a reliable head torch. We will hike 7.kms, 2.5 hours to Halfway Hut and set up camp there.

Saturday 25th November

On Saturday we could take our day-packs and hike 17km return to South Point, which is the southern-most point of Australian mainland. If we are feeling ambitious, we could even walk to the lighthouse.

Sunday 26th November

The final day we will hike 12.3 kms, 4 hours along the coast back to Tidal River via Oberon Bay and Little Oberon Bay. I suggest we have a picnic lunch on one of the beaches, and we could even go for a swim (weather permitting). When we get to Tidal River, you guys can chill somewhere while Josh and I pick up the cars.

Please note that we will be walking in the dark on Friday night, so please only join if you feel comfortable with this. Also please note that the pickup and drop-off point is Mount Waverley Station. Camping costs will be approximately $15, and fuel costs TBA.
