Fairfield Canoe Polo Cup

Hope you’ve all had a great start to the new year! Just wanted to share a couple of canoe polo events coming up in the next couple of weeks.

For those of you unfamiliar with canoe polo, it’s a weird but fun team sport that incorporates elements of water polo but is played in kayaks. Check out this video for more of an introduction.

The Fairfield Canoe Polo Cup will be running over the Jan 20/21 weekend and is going to be a blast. It’d be great to get a couple of MUMC teams together for people looking to improve their canoe polo skills through matches and have a bit of fun! The comp is suitable for all polo skill levels (it is a requirement that you can confidently perform a wet-exit for safety reasons) and will be run at Fairfield Canoe Club (9 The Esplanade, Fairfield VIC 3078). 

The comp costs $60 which includes BBQ lunch and gear hire on both Saturday and Sunday. Please bring your own snacks apart from this. Also, bring a water bottle, clothes suitable for paddling/getting wet, a towel and a change of clothes to go home in.

If you don’t have a Paddle Australia membership, there will be an additional one-time $20 event fee to cover insurance for the competition.
