Requirements: There isn't much navigation necessary, but we will be walking for 24 hours straight (with breaks). So make sure your fitness is up to scratch.

That’s right, Mt Bogong to Mt Feathertop in 24hours.

This is a placeholder for a walk between Mt Bogong and Mt feathertop within 24 hours. Please sign up if you are interested, fit and a little crazy.

Here are the details:

The plan is to walk during a period where the rivers are up due to melted snow or rain, hence plenty of water, over a weekend where this is a full moon and when the weather is ideal. The averages for October in Falls Creek are between 5.6 and 12.1 with the min of -2.1 and max of 21.6. So this seems to be the best time, there is November as well, but the temperatures will be a bit warmer. We will be walking with day packs with minimum gear, water, food, clothes. No tents/sleeping bags or cooking gear as there are a number of huts along the way in case of emergency.

I plan to stay at Mountain creek camp ground on the Friday night after a car shuffle, start Saturday midday-ish climb up the staircase to Mt Bogong, go along Bogong high plains overnight (its flat) then meet up with the razorback via Diamantina track then along to the MUMC Hut. The entire trip is between 60 and 70km.

We can either have a nap there, or go down to the cars and sleep for a bit before the drive home. I am hoping to get a bit of a support team to meet us at MUMC Hut with a few bits and pieces, such as food or even better some people to drive us home.

If there are any questions please ask. I will be updating trip so stay tuned as we work additional things out.
