Paddling Leadership Theory Night

Hey Everyone!

A short notice training night hosted by ROC for anyone interested in leading/assisting in leading paddling trips in the future. Knowledge covered will also be useful for anyone looking to learn how to minimise risk on paddling trips. Please note that this will be exclusively theory.

There will be a follow up practical session on Sunday to run through skills necessary for a beginner paddling leader. The theory night tomorrow is a prerequisite for this trip.

The training will take place at the ROC gear rooms from 7:30 onwards.

The main topics that will be covered between this and subsequent sessions are:

• paddling equipment - types and correct usage
• group management
• teaching capsize drills
• teaching basic paddle strokes
• simple rescue/recovery techniques

Come along, bring a friend. This evening is open to people from any of the uni clubs that do kayaking.
