Leaders: No leader
Standard: Everyone welcome
Meeting: Tue, 27 Sep 2011, 7:30 pm

Requirements: Wear sturdy shoes/gumboots, long trousers and a BRIGHT coloured long sleeve top; you will be walking off-track through the bush. Bring a change of footwear; you may need to wade through a creek.

Come and help us count the macropods in Coranderrk Bushland Reserve. Healesville Sanctuary has a large macropod population (Eastern Grey Kangaroos and Swamp Wallabies), which will soon require intensive management, and Sweep (or Drive) counts are used to keep track of their numbers.

The Coranderrk is not normally open to the public, so you will have the unique opportunity to walk through this special patch of bushland. Coranderrk is one of the largest intact remnants on the floor of the Yarra Valley and home to an incredible diversity of plants and animals.

After the count they will provide a BBQ lunch for survey participants in the beautiful setting of the Bush Hut that sits on the banks of Badger Creek within Coranderrk.

Depending on interest, it may be possible to afterwards visit Healesville Sanctuary and/or White Rabbit brewery.

Trip meeting is Tuesday September 27, as we need to confirm numbers early. Sign up below, any queries, email or talk to Josh or Arlie on Tuesday.
