Requirements: Suitable for beginners, though keep in mind that some of the walks we might do can be exposed and involve some scrambling. The length of the Big Walk also requires a level of fitness.

*This trip has now been merged with Mount Buffalo – The Big Walk*

Due to the small number of interested parties I have decided to combine both The Big Walk and Two Days of Day walk trips. The new plan is as follows:

1)      Drive up Mount Buffalo to the Lake Catani campground on Friday evening (the entire trip is very car/driver dependent as I myself to not drive or have a car)

2)      On Saturday we all do the big walk as a day walk which shall be reasonably challenging as there are some exposed and reasonably steep sections ( I did the walk in January with a pack and it was still quite spectacular though) and the combined down and up is reasonably long (approximately 7hrs of walking so this is for the reasonably fit). Should there be a group including somebody sufficiently experienced who would prefer to do some shorter walks on the plateau instead then that is also an option

3)      On Sunday morning we can do some shorter walks on the plateau such as the monolith and the chartwell galleries. The club has an excellent book on these so we can all look at this and the map on Tuesday and Saturday evening and decide exactly what we would like to do

4)      Sunday evening we drive home via a pub for dinner

So we need to have numbers finalised by Wednesday at the latest, but preferably by the meeting tomorrow, so we can work out if we have enough cars and then book the accommodation at Lake Catani Campground which should work out at around $10 each for the two nights. If you can come to the meeting then that’s great but if not please send an email as soon as possible to let me know if you are interested and if you can drive and if you have a car.

Hope to hear from you,

Emma Harold
