A bit about the rock climbing at Camel's Hump:

Camel's Hump is the highest peak of Mount Macedon. The crag is a dome of dark grey volcanic rock. Most of the climbs are single pitch and about 20-30m long. There is a good range of both trad and sport climbs that range from easy to really hard.

Camel's Hump has a microclimate, which means that it is generally much wetter and cooler than Melbourne, so climbing is much better during the warmer times of year.

If you are new to climbing, this will be a great opportunity to give climbing a go.  We will be setting up lots of topropes so you can have a shot at some easy and more challenging climbs.

If you are a novice at trad climbing, there are a few easy and well protected climbs for you to try.

If you are a strong climber, then there are quite a few quality steep pumpy climbs to jump on.

Route descriptions can be checked out at:

http://climb.org.au/index.php?page_id=10&action=crag&crag_id=416

The climbs are a short but fairly steep walk from the car park.

Note:

There will be no trip meeting for this trip. The trip will be organised by email during the week, so if you are interested please sign up so you are included in the group emails.

We will be picking up all the gear on Sunday morning, so you won't need to hire out gear on the Tuesday before the trip.

If you have any questions, please call Sean on (+61) 401 399 105.

If you would like to help out as a leader, please let me know. Help would be really appreciated to help teach belaying, supervising the climbing and setting up top rope anchors.
